Before your Radiesse® treatment, be sure to tell your provider if you:

  • Have any allergies or sensitivities (especially to lidocaine or CaHA).
  • Are taking blood thinners, supplements, or medications.
  • Have a history of cold sores, autoimmune conditions, or skin infections.
  • Have had recent dental work, vaccinations, or medical procedures.
  • Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning major events soon.

Radiesse Pre & Post Care Instructions

Radiesse Pre-Care Instructions

To reduce bruising and swelling and ensure great results, follow these steps:

7 Days Before:

  • Avoid blood thinners: aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, fish oil, Vitamin E, and herbal supplements (if medically allowed).
  • Skip alcohol and smoking.

3 Days Before:

  • Avoid exfoliants, retinoids, and active skincare on the treatment area.
  • Limit sun exposure and tanning.

Day Before & Day Of:

  • Stay hydrated and eat a light meal.
  • Come with a clean face (no makeup or skincare).
  • Let us know if you’ve had recent dental work, illness, or a history of cold sores.

Avoid scheduling treatment right before big events due to possible swelling or bruising.

  • Do not massage or manipulate treated areas for 72 hours post treatment. This can cause migration, increased swelling, soreness or increased bruising.
  • Avoid exercise, sun, and heat exposure for 24 hours post treatment
  • Avoid submerging face under water (pools, beach, hot tubs, baths) 24 hours post treatment.
  • It is acceptable to wash your face gently with a gentle cleanser post treatment. Avoid exfoliating washes for 72 hours.
  • Avoid NSAIDs, Aspirin, Motrin, Ginkgo Biloba, or Fish oil/derivatives as this can increase bleeding/bruising 1 week prior to treatment and 1 week after.
  • Sleep at 45 degree angle on back and avoid sleeping on side for 48 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, and cigarette use 48 hours before and after treatment.
  • Avoid cosmetic treatments/procedures (lasers, facial, massage, peels) 2 weeks post treatment
  • Avoid use of retinol for 48 hours prior and post treatment
  • Avoid makeup to treated areas for 24 hours. Mineral based makeup is preferred. If you are having lips treated be sure to use only brand new lip sticks or balms as using previously used products can introduce infection.
  • Call your provider if you have increased pain, worsening swelling, redness, blisters, itching or drainage following treatment, blanching of the skin or injection sites.
  • Ice the treated area for the first 24 hours, 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off.
  • Avoid flying for a minimum of 48 hours post injection.
  • Avoid obtaining any vaccination, dental cleaning, dental work, lesion excision or biopsy, surgery of any kind, internal device placement, tattoo or permanent makeup for 2 weeks following procedure.
  • Avoid colonoscopy for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
