What can I expect at my appointment for Medical Marijuana?
In-person consultation
First, you will meet with your medical marijuana physician for an in-person consultation to be certified as a medical marijuana patient. Your physician will understand your condition and work with you to provide guidance to start your medical marijuana plan by suggesting various options and product suggestions at the dispensary treatment centers.
Once you have been certified by our medical marijuana physician, you will be entered into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry where you will complete the state of Florida’s application for your medical marijuana card.
Apply for the Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card
Apply for your card: Next, you will need to apply for the Medical Marijuana Use Registry Identification Card, and will be responsible for the $75 payment to the Department of Health (debit and credit cards are accepted).
- You will receive 2 emails from the Office of Medical Marijuana Use, follow their instructions to set up your account.
- If you have problems setting up your account, please contact the registry at 1-800-808-9580 or access their website.

Approved and ready to purchase
Once your payment processes, you will receive another email from OMMU stating that you have been approved. You can now go to any dispensary treatment center and purchase your products. You do not have to wait for your card to do this. Just bring your Florida Drivers License or Florida ID and a copy of your approval letter until your card arrives.
Renewing your Medical Marijuana Certification
Appointment: Your next appointment with your medical marijuana provider will be at the state required recertification in 210 days from your initial visit. Please note, if you do not keep this appointment, your orders will expire and you will not be able to purchase until you are recertified.
Identification Card: You will also be required by the state to renew your Medical Marijuana card yearly. It is recommended that you apply for renewal 45 days prior to the expiration date located on the front of your card. To renew your card, log back into your MMUR account and repeat the application process. The registry will send you a reminder email approximately 45 days prior to your expiration date.

Recertification Telehealth Appointments
As of July 1, 2023 the Florida House passed House Bill No. 267 that now allows medical marijuana recertifications to be conducted by telehealth. What this means is that our medical marijuana physicians can conduct your appointment via telephone. In-office appointments are also still available.
